Access Automation is proudly 100% Kiwi owned and operated by Lloyd and Sarah Richardson. We are passionate about Access Automation and the benefits our products offer. We pride ourselves on importing, distributing and marketing only the very best of European automation equipment.

We are New Zealand’s official suppliers of FAAC® and Genius® automation products: Catering for automation of gates, doors (commercial roller doors and glass doors), barriers and bollards.

We are also New Zealand’s official suppliers of the Videx® range of audio and video intercom products.

All products are designed and manufactured in Europe to EU manufacturing standards. This results in extensive product warranties and robust training programmes for our nationwide licensed installers. We lead New Zealand with technical automation expertise from a combined experience of greater than 20 years. Meet the Team

Lloyd Richardson
Managing Director
Lloyd in conjunction with Sarah Richardson is the co-owner of Access Automation. He spent 18 years working in large corporates, with 10 of those years based in the UK. After heading back to NZ and with a passion for automation, he bought the existing business in early 2014.

Lloyd is responsible for the demand generation for the business including, technical sales, marketing, project specification and management. He also manages the sole and exclusive brand distributorships for the New Zealand market. This key role ensures the world’s best products are supplied to New Zealand and robust product knowledge and training is carried out to ensure that consumers’ experience of AANZ products exceed all expectations.

Lloyd is mad about all sports, with his main passion being rugby union, however, he has recently picked up a tennis racket again after many years.
Sarah Richardson
Administration Manager
Sarah is co-owner of the business with Lloyd and brings to the table a vast array of skills and knowledge. She cut her teeth in the commercial world as a hospital pharmaceutical sales manager, having come from events management and a two year stint teaching in Japan.

Sarah graduated from Lincoln University with a Bachelor of Parks and Recreation majoring in Sport Management and in 2002 completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Massey University.

Sarah oversees the business administration hub within the company and ensures the overarching business systems are running like clockwork and compliance is met. She is a passionate sports woman and played senior and representative netball throughout her teenage years. She regularly attends the gym to make sure she can keep up with the couple’s three little girls aged five and under.
Dave McMahon
Technical Manager
As an experienced gate-automator and lifetime tinkerer, Dave brings a lot of experience and knowledge to the technical team. His previous role involved the installation and service of countless commercial and residential drive units, plus industrial doors and access control systems. He cut his teeth on cars, motorbikes and boats, having completed extensive electrical, mechanical and repower work as a hobby.

His passion for solving problems led him to his current role, where he takes pride in delivering solutions that outperform the status-quo. Dave provides extensive technical sales support via phone and email, tapping into the knowledge base of our manufacturers’ engineers when necessary. He also heads our technical training academy, ensuring that our partnered installation companies are trained to the highest industry standards.

Away from work, Dave can usually be found with a spanner or screwdriver in his hand. Recent projects include a scratch-built commercial-size hydraulic cider press, the refurbishment of a 1920s American metal lathe, and experiments in cast-concrete furniture. Dave is also a musician of some repute and is an accomplished drummer. He is a graduate of the University of Auckland, having completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2011.
Charlotte Moss
Office Manager
Charlotte’s role incorporates running the administrative side of the business and working with the team to ensure systems and processes are adhered to - making dealing with us a simple and enjoyable experience.

Charlotte certainly knows how to get these things achieved and she has gained considerable experience running the office and is a master of MYOB.

Charlotte’s busy extracurricular schedule includes her passion for Olympic weightlifting. She has represented New Zealand since 2011, and currently holds all the NZ junior records for her weight division. Charlotte achieved great success on the international stage in 2015 at the Oceania Championships where she was placed first in the junior category for her weight division. She also won her first international senior medal (bronze) at the 2015 Pacific Games. Her ambition is to compete at the Commonwealth and Olympic games in the not too distant future.

Last, but not least, Charlotte is also squeezing in some study, and is an undergraduate at the University of Auckland pursuing a degree in Politics and International Relations.
Russell David
Technical Sales, IT and Software Advisor
Russ is responsible for the software and programming side of the Access Automation business. His in-depth knowledge of anything to do with technology, computing and software development ensures that we have the capability and solutions in-house to cater for even the most demanding projects.

Russ thrives on anything to do with software, and we have plenty of projects to carry out in that domain. With connectivity such a large part of the modern business and home access control requirements, Russ works extensively with our product range, and with his know-how, we can pull together various technologies to find the perfect solution.

As an avid skier Russ loves the thrill of time on the mountain and when not challenging himself on a death defying black run, he can be found at Snow Planet honing his skills.

Russ is an undergraduate at Massey University, studying towards a Bachelor of Information Sciences majoring in Software Engineering.
Nicholas Aitken
Technical Sales Advisor – South Island
Nicholas has several years of experience running a South Island gate automation business and has extensive knowledge of FAAC products. His problem solving and specification skills are extensive and Nick has worked across many successful projects with our installation partners.

Nick studied at Otago University, completing his BSc in 2000 and also completed his PG diploma in business management from Canterbury University in 2006. He has had a wide and diversified base of experience. Throughout his career he has developed an aptitude that complements the professional needs for automation specification and installation.

When he’s not specifying automation services, Nicholas is a keen beekeeper, and he has recently bought three cows to kick-start his hobby as a cattle farmer.
Glen Keeley
Marketing Manager
Glen is our Marketing Manager and is responsible for keeping our clients up to speed with everything that’s happening at Access Automation New Zealand. Glen puts together all of our promotional offers and sends out our Exclusive Access emails and PDFs. Glen has been heavily involved in our re-branding and is passionate about ensuring that our marketing efforts reflect the quality of our brand and our service.

Glen brings a wealth of marketing experience to our business and has a very good understanding of the fencing industry – having spent over 7 years working with some of New Zealand’s largest fencing companies.

When he’s not working, Glen loves all sports and keeping fit, and will normally be found out training for his next running event.
